INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Lindsey Wilson men and women’s indoor track and field teams collected multiple top-10 finishes on Saturday at the Indianapolis Collegiate Challenge.
Christian Davis got things started with a preliminary time of 7.08 seconds in the men’s 60 meter dash to secure a spot in the finals. He recorded a time of 7.11 seconds in the finals to capture eighth place. Christian Whitehead later recorded a third-place finish with his time of 1:24.06 in the 600 meter run.
In the men’s field events, K’Lan Harris and Michael Redmon both secured top-10 placements in the long jump. Harris finished in third place with a leap of 6.52 meters, finishing just .03 meters off the winning mark, while Redmon placed ninth with a distance of 6.37 meters.
On the women’s side, Alexia DeHaven-Boyd ran an 8.09 in the 60 meter prelims to qualify for the finals, but did not compete in the finals. DeHaven-Boyd also recorded a runner-up finish out of 36 competitors in the 400 meter run with her time of 1:00.13, coming up 0.10 seconds behind the winning time. She also just missed out on a B standard by under a second. In the women’s 600 meters, both Hailey Martin and Lauren Buchanan finished in seventh and ninth place, respectively.
In the field events, Paige Pettell recorded a pair of top-10 finishes. She captured third place in the shot put with a toss of 13.17 meters, good enough for a B standard. Pettell then finished sixth in the weight throw with a distance of 14.59 meters. Teammate De’jah Smith added a ninth-place finish in the shot put. Lydia Mills finished in fifth place in the triple jump with a leap of 8.96 meters.
The Blue Raiders are back in action for the Indiana University Relays beginning on Thursday.
