Bring the kids to downtown Columbia for a fun and safe Halloween!
The Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce will again have "Treats on the Town" on Halloween--Friday, October 31st. The event will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the Square in Columbia.
Everyone is welcome to set up around the square…businesses, churches, civic groups, elected officials, families, individuals, young or old…dress in costume, set up and decorate a treats table or car trunk and hand out individually wrapped treats to the kids.
Traffic around the square will be closed.

Non-profit organizations within Adair County can earn extra cash by picking up litter from Adair County’s roadsides this month.
Judge Executive Ann Melton and the Adair County Fiscal Court are pleased to announce that non-profit groups, clubs, churches, relay teams, fire departments, sport boosters, etc., can earn $50 per mile (this includes both sides of the road) up to 3 miles picking up trash on county road sides.

The following information will be needed:
• Name of group
• Number in group
• The name of the road that you will be cleaning and/or we can help you select a road that will be good for your group’s age level.
Before the day of your clean-up, you will need to stop by the office and pick up the following items:
• Trash bags
• Forms; waivers, form to receive payment, etc.,
• Vest are to be returned to the office after clean-up with paperwork
The Adair County Knife Club has a Knife Swap & Auction at the Columbia Masonic basement on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday nights of each month. Doors open at the 3:00 p.m. and the auction begins at 5:00 p.m. There is a $2:00 admission fee and there are tables where you can set up with your knives. The Columbia Church of Christ Food Pantry will be open every 3rd Thursday of the month from 10:00 a.m. till 12:00 noon.
The Adair County Food Pantry, 203 South Monroe Street, Columbia, is open 9am-12pm, each Tuesday, serving families of Adair County who meet certain income criteria. Anyone who wishes to donate to donate canned items or make a monetary donation may call Food Pantry Director Stephanie Long at 270-250-2847.
The food pantry at Praise Assembly of God, 310 Jamestown Street, Columbia, is open Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. or until the food runs out.
