NWS Spotters Training Class in Breeding

The Breeding Fire Department is hosting a Weather Spotters training class taught by the National Weather Service in Louisville. The class will be held at the Breeding Fire Station on March 23rd at 6 P.M.


A.C. Soil Conservation Sponsoring FREE Soil Testing Jan. - March

The Adair County Soil Conservation District will be sponsoring FREE soil testing during the months of January, February, and March of 2015.  All Adair County landowners are eligible to receive seven (7) FREE soil samples. The free samples are through the UK Adair County Cooperative Extension Service only.  Soil probes for collecting samples may be borrowed from the Extension Office, which is temporarily located at 42 Grant Lane in Columbia and landowners should bring your soil for testing to that location.

STOP Tipline

Adair Co. Schools Announces STOP Tipline …Report bullying and other risky behavior online!


If students, parents or community members know of an unsafe situation in school (bullying, weapons, drugs or alcohol, etc.), they can anonymously pass on that information to school personnel by locating the STOP Tipline logo on the Adair Co. Schools’ website as well as on each school site. More information can be found about the tip line at



Adair Co. Knife Club Swap & Auction

The Adair County Knife Club has a Knife Swap & Auction at the Columbia Masonic basement on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday nights of each month. Doors open at the 3:00 p.m. and the auction begins at 5:00 p.m. There is a $2:00 admission fee and there are tables where you can set up with your knives.  For more information call: 634-1657, 634-1627 or 932-7276.




The Columbia Church of Christ Food Pantry will be open every 3rd Thursday of the month from 10:00 a.m. till 12:00 noon. The church is located on Jamestown St. in Columbia.


The Adair County Food Pantry at 203 South Monroe Street in Columbia is open from 9am-12pm each Tuesday serving Adair Co. families who meet certain income criteria. Anyone who wishes to donate to donate canned items or make a monetary donation may call Food Pantry Director Stephanie Long at 270-250-2847.


The food pantry at Praise Assembly of God, 310 Jamestown Street, Columbia, is open Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. or until the food runs out.
