Adair Co. Non Profitable Organizations Can Earn Money for Picking up Trash in May

Judge Executive Michael Lee Stephens and the Adair County Fiscal Court ask everyone to be a proud volunteer of the "Keep Adair County Clean" team.

During the month of May, non-profit organizations, such as clubs, churches, relay teams, fire departments, ball teams, cheerleaders, etc., within Adair County can earn extra cash by picking up litter from Adair County's roadsides. Each group may clean up to 3 miles of roadway (to include both sides of the road). Groups will receive $50.00 per mile, up to a maximum of $150.00.  To register your group, or for more information, contact Judge Michael Lee Stephens Office 270-384-4703.

The long awaited Trial Run of the Columbia-Adair Trail Town will take place Saturday, May 30,  2015 but is limited to the first 50 registered participants with a four-mile paddle on Russell Creek beginning at NAPA and ending at Pelham Branch. In order to participate in the trail run you must register including signing the waiver, must be 18 or older and must provide your own kayak or canoe, paddles and life vest.

There is a $10 registration fee that includes the official Paddle Adair T-shirt, decal, breakfast sandwich and drink at FM2 , and shuttle service for you and your kayak back to the put in area. A snack will also be provided at the take out. When you register, there is a choice of five put in times. Upon completing the paddle, a short survey is required that will make you eligible for the prize drawing of an Old Town Vapor kayak, Personal Flotation Device and paddle. There will also be onsite registration that morning at the historic Adair County Courthouse beginning at 8:00 AM if we have not reached the 50 pre-registered participants but we cannot guarantee the T-shirt and decal with late registration.

For registration form, like us on Facebook at Columbia Adair Trail Town, or pick yours up at the Adair County Public Library. Additional information is on the registration form.

If you want to be part of making Columbia the next certified Kentucky Trail Town but don’t want to paddle, no problem. We are also in need of volunteers to help with getting boats in water, getting boats out of water, registering, etc. the day of the Trial Run. Volunteers will also receive the official Paddle Adair T-shirt.
