Homecoming Sunday will be on Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. at Melson Ridge United Baptist Church at 382 Melson Ridge Road in Columbia. Singing will be by the Spirituals and Brother Jim Molden will be the speaker. There will be a pot luck meal at noon and everyone is invited.
Columbia's annual Downtown Days Festival is Oct. 7th and 8th, and Renaissance Columbia has announced that country music artist Doug Stone will be this years featured entertainer. The concert date is Saturday, Oct. 8 at 7p.m. on the Public Square. The concert is free, just bring your lawn chair.
The festival features arts and crafts vendors, a food court, 5K, kids fun run, live entertainment all day, kids games and train rides, beauty pageants (to be held on Saturday, Oct. 1), a big wheel race and much more all culminating with the FREE Doug Stone country music concert on Oct. 8.
Annual Meslon Ridge School Reunion on Saturday, Sept. 24th at 2 p.m. The reunion will be held at the old school ground. Bring a covered dish, drink, and any old school pictures.
Christy Chapel United Methodist Church, on HWY 76 at the Adair/Taylor County Line, is having their homecoming on Sunday 9/18 at 10:00 AM EST. The Happy Travelers will be providing the music and lunch will follow.
