The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Office of Highway Safety is partnering with the Ky. State Police and the Adair County Judge Executive's office to sponsor a free child safety seat inspection at the Jim Blair Community Recreation Center at 901 Hudson Street in Columbia on Monday, Sept. 15, from 2pm-5pm.
Nationally certified child passenger safety technicians will educate participants on correct installation and usage and check for recalls or damage to the seat. Attendees should allow approximately 20 minutes per seat.
The public is invited to Victory Community Church's ADO Program (Alcohol Drug Outreach Program) each Fri. night at 6:30pm at the church at 107 Reed Street, Columbia. This is an outreach program for anyone battling any addiction. On Fri., September 19, the speaker will be Sharon & Harold Ramage.

The 2014 Green River Lakeshore Cleanup will be held on Sat., Sept, 20. Registration and trash pickup is 9:00am-12:00 Noon EST. Lunch and prize giveaway begins at 12:30pm EST at the Green River Lake State Park Picnic Shelter.
To participate in trash pickup, show up at one of the following locations: Site One Ramp, Smith Ridge Boat Ramp, Holmes Bend Ramp, or the State Park Pavillion.

Bank of Columbia is collecting new toys and books for Kosair Charities’ annual Holiday Party. Each year they host a party for upwards of 400 Kosair Kids and every child receives toys and stuffed animals.

The Adair County Knife Club has a Knife Swap & Auction at the Columbia Masonic basement on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday nights of each month. Doors open at the 3:00 p.m. and the auction begins at 5:00 p.m. There is a $2:00 admission fee and there are tables where you can set up with your knives.
