2 Adair Countians were taken to the hospital following a 2 vehicle accident Fri. night in Marion County.

Ky. State Trooper Jonathan Houk is investigating the collision that occurred at 10:45 PM EDT, Friday, May 18, 2 miles west of Lebanon on US 68.  24-year-old Joanna Logston of Columbia was operating a 1997 Cadillac and backed out of a private driveway and into the path of a westbound 2005 Chevy being operated by 31-year-old Charles J. Richardson of Columbia who was not belted.  A passenger in the Logston vehicle, 28-year-old Lashana Stapp, also of Columbia and Logston were not wearing seatbelts and were transported to Springview Hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Adair County High School's 25th Project Graduation will take place Friday, May 24, following graduation exercises and will last until approximately 1:30 am Sat. morning.

Seniors, juniors and their guests will celebrate graduation in a safe, alcohol and drug free environment with lots of games, food, prizes and cash give aways made possible by the generosity of community businesses and individuals.

For the safety of our graduates, juniors and their guests, all who attend must remain until the conclusion at approximately 1:30am

Parents are invited to attend and volunteers are always welcome to help run the games and activities. To volunteer call 384-3400.

A popular local singer, Hannah Ellis of Campbellsville, was honored to sing her song "Let It Be Me" for the Fallen Police Officers Memorial Service on the West Lawn of the US Capital last week.

Hannah shared the stage with President Obama and his Cabinet along with the Speaker of the House and country singer Lee Brice. She also sang the National Anthem for the Homeland Security Banquet and received a Homeland Security badge from the Director of ICE for her contribution.

The Site Base Decision Making Council Elections were held on May 16, at Adair County Middle School for the 2013-2014 school year.  Serving as parent representatives for the next school year will be:  Tim Baker, Ricky Eastham, and Becky Taylor (minority representative).  Serving as teacher representatives for the next school year will be:  Denise Grant, Crystal Huckaby, and Cindy Walker.

Rikki Neat and Riley Grant have been named 2013 Rogers Scholars and will be eligible to receive exclusive scholarship opportunities from 18 colleges and universities.

Neat and Grant, students at Adair County High School, were selected by The Center for Rural Development.

Rogers Scholars, an intensive one-week summer youth leadership program, brings together rising high school juniors from across Southern and Eastern Kentucky for a one-of-a-kind experience that past participants often describe as “life changing.”

Rogers Scholars was built on a mission started by U.S. Congressman Harold “Hal” Rogers  that “no young person should have to leave home to find his or her future.”
