On Thursday, March 22nd the Columbia Police Department responded to a reported altercation on Jamestown Street in the city limits of Columbia. Upon arrival officers found a female sitting in the driveway who had been physically assaulted. At that time 38 year old Zachary Jensen of Columbia exited the house holding a knife in each hand. Officer Dean and Deputy Padgett began moving into position to attempt deployment of tasers, while Ofc. Dial provided them cover. After repeated demands for him to drop the knives, Jensen attempted to throw one of them at Ofc Dean. One taser was deployed by Ofc. Dean with no effect. A second taser was deployed by Deputy Padgett bringing the suspect down. Officers then moved in and after a small scuffle were able to take him into custody.
Jensen was charged with Assault 3rd degree police officer, Wanton Endangerment 1st degree, Menacing, Resisting Arrest, Assault 4th degree domestic and Disorderly Conduct. The case is being continued by CPD Ofc. Jordan Dean .
