As announced earlier today, Reds second baseman Scooter Gennett has been named National League Player of the Week presented by W.B. Mason for the week of May 21-27.
In six games last week, Gennett hit a robust .500 (12-for-24) with three home runs, 10 runs batted in and six runs scored, including a six-RBI effort on May 22 and a 5-for-5 night on May 26.
It’s the second time Gennett has taken home NL Player of the Week honors this year and third time in his career. The 28-year-old is making a strong case for NL Player of the Month honors, boasting a .409 average with eight homers and 23 RBIs for the month of May thus far.
