On Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018 at approximately 3:18 pm, CPD Ofc. Kevin Atwood and Deputy Brandon Hitch responded to a call that a vehicle Columbia Police were looking for was in the Creek View Mobile Home Park. Upon their arrival a 2010 Mazda 6 that had been reported stolen on June 24th, 2018 to Officer Josh Brockman was located.
A suspect in the theft, Larry Taylor, 38 of Adair County, had been developed by Officer Brockman and a search of the area resulted in him being located hiding in a closet of a mobile home.
Taylor was found to be in possession by Deputy Brandon Hitch of Methamphetamine, scales, cash, and a loaded firearm. Taylor is a convicted felon and unable to possess a firearm .
He was also served with 4 outstanding warrants of arrest including one for probation and parole.
Taylor was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail by Deputy Brandon Hitch on the warrants.
Officer Brockman and Adair County Deputy Hitch will present their cases to the Adair County Grand Jury seeking indictments on the auto theft and drug charges.
Atwood and Hitch were assisted at scene by Officer Jamie Cole, Sheriff Harrison Moss and Ofc. Josh Brockman .
