On Sunday July 22nd, 2018 at approximately 9:23 PM EST, Trooper Jake Harper conducted a routine traffic stop 3 miles south of Liberty on US 127.
36 year old, Errick Hamilton of Liberty was operating a 1997 Mercury at a high rate of speed when he was pulled over by Trooper Jake Harper.
Upon contact with Mr. Hamilton Trooper harper noticed that he appeared to be under the influence.
As Trooper Harper asked Mr. Hamilton to step out of the vehicle, Trooper Martin Wesley observed the driver attempt to conceal an item under a baseball cap in the seat beside him.
After performing sobriety test’s the subject was arrested and a search of the driver seat lead to Troopers finding approximately 2 grams of methamphetamine in a plastic bag underneath the baseball cap.
Hamilton was charged with Speeding 17 MPH over the speed limit, Failure to wear seatbelts, No operator’s license, Operating a Motor vehicle under the influence of Drugs/Alcohol, .08 – 1st offense, Possession of a Controlled substance, 1st degree, 3rd offense or > Offense ( Methamphetamine) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Hamilton was lodged in the Casey County Detention Center.
